Elements is a three phase mentorship program which provides unique opportunities to explore the reasons for entering sex work and identifying the barriers when wanting to exit. Participants then use their skills and personal know-how to mentor another peer in the final stages of Elements. The program is 21 weeks long.
Phase One
Phase One is every Tuesday for 6 weeks. In this phase a personal mentor will assist in addressing the personal barriers facing participants. Whether it's enrolling in full-timestudies, accessing main-stream employment or other programs, Elements can help. Barriers may include personal identification, housing, relationships, and other various psychological issues.
Phase Two
Phase Two is every Wednesday and Thursday for 8 weeks. Inthis phase a group process explores reasons for entering sex work, the barriers faced when exiting sex work and strategies for recovering from the effects of sex work. The goal of this phase is to combat the more psychological barriers faced when exiting sex work.
Phase Three
Phase Three is every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for 8 weeks. In the first 2 weeks of this phase participants recieve in-depth peer support and mentorship training. This training is then put into practice as participants become mentors to the new Phase One participants. This is a unique opportunity to recieve practical work experience, excellent specialized training, and to learn more about your community.
Breakfast and lunch are provided on group days as well as transportation to and from PEERS Vancouver. Participants recieve completion bonuses at the end of each phase and will enjoy many incentives.
